diy love { lace framed earring and necklace holder }

I am always puttering around the house looking for ways to spruce things up,
with a little touch of decor here and there.
We don’t have much in the budget for home decorations (ok…well…none),
so I am constantly trying to find inexpensive fixes.
I have wanted to add some decor in our bathroom for a while.
The walls are white, everything is white.
I also needed to reorganize my jewelry and find a more clever way to store it.
I decided that a cute ear ring and necklace holder would be perfect to hang on the wall by the sink.

This was really easy to make, and definitely within my budget.
I bought the frame at Walmart, thinking I would paint it a fun color,
but realizing I loved the look of the wood against the white walls.
I already had the pink lace in my fabric stash,
and I found the knobs in a cute little vintage shop in the cutest little town by the beach (Swansboro, NC).
To make the frame, I simply mod podged the lace to the back.
Mod podge seriously works wonders with fabric and wood.
Once it is stuck on, there is no getting it off!
I tried to keep the lace as taught as possible, so there wouldn’t be any slack or sagging.
We thought about bolting the knobs to the frame, but decided glue would work just as good (this was some really heavy duty glue that Curtis had in his tool box…not just a hot glue gun, mind you).

And it was that easy.

I have seen these jewelry holders made with chicken wire and even burlap as the backing, but I really love the soft look of the lace.
The holes of the floral pattern are perfect for holding my ear rings and hair clips.
The vintage knobs fit perfectly with the lace.
I just love the look of it and am glad to have those ear rings and necklaces out of the jumbled mess that was my jewelry box!

Total cost:
frame: $5
knobs: $4
Total: $9

I love this! I've been thinking about changing out my current jewelry thing because I got in in high school and it's a bit too… little girl for me now. I think we might have to be twinners! 🙂
